IPP Greifswald Branch
The Branch Institute of IPP at Greifswald was founded in 1994. Here the fusion experiment Wendelstein 7-X is being investigated. IPP Greifswald has some 400 members of staff.
Presently, in the IPP Branch Institute Greifswald are the Scientific Divisions Stellarator Heating and Optimisation, Stellarator Dynamics and Transport, Stellarator Edge and Divertor Physics, Wendelstein 7-X Operations, and Stellarator Theory.
A cooperation agreement on fusion-oriented plasma physics is connecting IPP with the Department of Physics of University of Greifswald. Three scientific directors of IPP are also appointed as professors at the University of Greifswald and one as professer at the Technical University of Berlin.
