Numerical Methods in Plasma Physics
Established in 2012, the Division is developing new computational methods for fusion research.
This includes numerical methods describing the complex plasma behaviour, fast software for high performance computers and visualisation methods for the large quantities of data involved.
The division comprises six working groups:
- Kinetic and Gyrokinetic Models
Dr. Stefan Possanner (Phone: 1552)
- Magnetohydrodynamics (MHD)
Dr. Ing. Florian Hindenlang (Phone: 1083)
- Geometric Numerical Integration and Reduced Complexity Modelling
Dr. Michael Kraus (Phone: 1227)
- Probabilistic Data Analysis and Active Learning
Priv. Doz. Dr. Udo von Toussaint (Phone: 1817)
- Zonal Flows in Turbulent Plasmas
Priv. Doz. Dr. Klaus Hallatschek (Phone: 1391)
- Advanced Computing Hub (ACH)
Dr. Roman Hatzky (Phone: 1707)
- Finite Element Methods (FEM)
Priv. Doz. Dr. Martin Campos Pinto (Phone: 1527)
