Neutral Beam Injection Group
Neutral beam injection is used on most nuclear fusion experiments worldwide as a powerful means of heating the plasma. Also on ITER neutral beam injection will contribute the largest share to the installed heating power.
The neutral beam injection group develops sources of negatively charged hydrogen ions for the neutral beam injection on ITER and contributes to the conceptual design for the demonstration power plant DEMO.
Besides, the group builds and operates the neutral beam injection systems on ASDEX Upgrade and Wendelstein 7-X and investigates neutral beam current drive in ASDEX Upgrade.
