IPP Director appointed to MV Future Council
Sibylle Günter contributes to the development of the future strategy for Mecklenburg-Western Pomerania
The scientific director of Max Planck Institute for Plasma Physics (IPP) in Garching and Greifswald, Professor Dr. Sibylle Günter, was appointed to the Future Council (“Zukunftsrat“) of the federal state of Mecklenburg-Western Pomerania.
The task of the Future Council is to advise the state government and to develop recommendations for new approaches, plans and projects in interdisciplinary discussions. “We hope that this body will provide important impulses for the future development of our federal state Mecklenburg-Vorpommern”, said Minister-President Schwesig at the presentation of the body, which was established at the end of September.
The first meeting of the MV Future Council will take place on 22 October. Following an opening event with all 49 of the participants, most of whom come from Mecklenburg-Western Pomerania, four working groups on the topics of “Economy”, “Social Affairs”, “Ecology” and “Digitalisation” will begin their work. A further eight meetings are planned by April 2021. During the process, the Future Council will discuss its work results with associations and interest groups and finally submit its recommendations to the state government. These will be forwarded to the state parliament for further deliberation and presented to the public. In parallel to the work of the commission, an online participation procedure for citizens on future issues of the state is to be launched towards the end of the year.
