10th IAEA Technical Meeting on Energetic Particles in Magnetic Confinement Systems
8 to 10 October 2007, Kloster Seeon, Germany
The workshop
10th IAEA Technical Meeting on Energetic Particles in Magnetic Confinement Systems will be held in Kloster Seeon, Germany, Monday, 8 October 2007 through Wednesday, 10 October 2007 and is hosted by the Max-Planck-Institut für Plasmaphysik, Garching, Germany.
Previous meetings in this series were held in Kiev (1989), Aspenas (1991), Trieste (1993), Princeton (1995), JET/Abingdon (1997), Naka (1999), Gohtenburg (2001), San Diego (2003) and Takayama (2005).
The purpose of the meeting is to discuss the status of experimental and theoretical works on suprathermal electrons and ions in a wide variety of magnetic confinement geometries. Topics include the formation and transport of energetic particles, the collective instabilities they drive, their effects on the plasma, and energetic particle diagnostics.
- (A) Alpha particles physics,
- (B) Transport of energetic particles,
- (C) Effects of energetic particles in magnetic confinement fusion devices,
- (D) Collective phenomena: Alfven eigenmodes, energetic particle modes and others,
- (E) Runaway electrons and disruptions,
- (F) Diagnostics for energetic particles.

Kloster Seeon is an old monastery which was rebuilt in 1986 to become a conference centre. It is located about 100 km Southeast of Munich close to the Bavarian alps. The centre itself sits on an island in a small lake. All participants will stay at the centre, which is run like a hotel.
Find out more about Kloster Seeon with the external link at the right hand side.
Local Registration and Transport
Please fill out the local registration form (.pdf, .doc) and return it to Mrs. Stahlberg before September 6th, 2007. Transport will be provided at 1:00 p.m. and 6:30 p.m from Munich Airport on Sunday 7th October, 2007
Note:
The bus departure times are still somewhat preliminary and are still expected to change slightly according to the arrival times of the participants. For participants who arrive very late or who are delayed, there will be transportation by car to Kloster Seeon.
MEETING POINT FOR BUS DEPARTURE:
Munich Airport, Central Area (Z), Meeting Point as indicated here
