The Max Planck Institute for Plasma Physics in Garching offers an opportunity to participate in a postdoctorate programme within the division Physics of the Plasma Edge (E2) to perform research activities at the ASDEX Upgrade fusion experiment (AUG). We are looking for a Postdoctoral Researcher in Experimental Physics (m/f/d).
Your tasks
- Conduct research on the plasma dynamics in a fusion experiment
- Operation and further development of microwave technology and its data acquisition to probe the electron temperature in a fusion plasma based on the electron cyclotron emission
- Develop and maintain suitable control software for communication and setup of the electron cyclotron emission diagnostics
- Explore application for realtime control of temperature profiles
Your profile/Our requirements
- PhD in experimental physics
- Knowledge of plasma physics (preferable high temperature plasmas)
- Experience and knowledge of electronics and microwave technology
Your abilities
- Experience in programming of application software in python and C
- Ability to present complex scientific and technical content in English
- Interest to work in a scientific environment and with an international team
